Upcoming MeetingsThe Committee meets monthly. The January 2009 meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 8 at the clubhouse of the Garrett Farms
development (note new location, which will be our meeting place through 2009). EventsA hike is planned on Sunday, Dec. 14 to explore possible trail locations along the New Hope between Hollow Rock and 15-501. Meet 9 am at the (now closed) Mexican restaurant in the Oak Creek Shopping Center, northwest corner of Garrett Rd. and 15-501 (Bojangles is in this center). Terrain is level, but trail is rough to nonexistent and may be wet. Bring stout footwear. Financial HelpContributions should be made to the Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC), which played a pivotal role in establishing the New Hope Creek Corridor Advisory Committee and has been active along the New Hope for many years, including acquiring the 296-acre Johnston Mill Nature Preserve in 1999. TLC has made New Hope Creek one of its priority areas and has a mission of “working in partnership with city and county governments to protect the last few pieces of land that will fulfill the vision of the New Hope master plan for a natural trail and wildlife corridor stretching from Duke Forest to Jordan Lake.” You may mail a check to TLC at 1101 Haynes Street, Suite 205, Raleigh, NC 27604 or you may contribute online. If you would like your contribution to be earmarked for work on New Hope Creek, please write "New Hope Creek fund" on the memo line of your check or in the acknowledgements field online. |
